The Ryan Foundation commits $3 million Donation to Catholic Central Development Foundation
The Ryan Foundation donated $3 million to the Catholic Central Development Foundation in September 2023.

Founded in 1965, the Catholic Central Development Foundation has played a pivotal role in shaping the Grand Island community by educating and guiding thousands of young adults. For the past 65 years, Catholic Central has generated financial support to benefit students and help them achieve their educational goals.
On March 9, 2023, a groundbreaking ceremony marked the start of construction for a long-anticipated expansion—a brand-new elementary school on the Grand Island campus. In the early 1970s, two Catholic grade schools in Grand Island were closed, leaving the community with aspirations for more than 50 years. The Ryan Foundation’s donation contributed to fulfilling that dream by supporting the addition of 27,000 square feet to the current building.

The new Central Catholic Elementary School now provides a learning environment for up to 280 students in Pre-K through 5th grade. The expansion includes a remodeled cafeteria and kitchen, along with a playground on the northeast side of the building, ensuring a top-quality educational experience.
On August 12, 2024, the ribbon-cutting ceremony officially opened the doors to the new elementary school. At the event, Wayne and Eileen Ryan were honored on the Wall of Gratitude, alongside all the donors who helped turn a 50-year dream into reality.

Superintendent Dr. Jordan Engle remarked: “The building is beautiful, but on the first day of school it will be even more beautiful because of the young people who come to fill these halls.” (GICC Foundation Newsletter, Fall 2024).
